Our first vintage of Icewine in 1994. We were able to achieve as high an alcohol concentration. The elevated alcohol content allows for a needed balance with the intense sweetness. The result in your mouth is a much less cloying, or syrupy, Icewine with a clean, long finish.
Traditional flavours and aromas of peaches, pears and dried apricots are found in this Icewine—, as they seem to be consistently from vintage to vintage. Its acidity level is an added balance to the wine, along with the sugar and alcohol levels, and help to augment these natural fruit qualities found in the grapes. With a wonderful nutty, savory, prune finish on the end.
Food Pairing Notes
Certainly you can enjoy this 1994 Kerner Icewine by itself after a meal as an aperitif. Another rare treat is to pour a portion of the bottle over fresh peaches, nectarines and apricots and allow the fruit to soak up the Icewine overnight in the refrigerator. Once the fruit has been infused with the wine, you can pour the mixture over creamy vanilla ice cream and enjoy the dessert paired with the remainder of the bottle of Icewine. It is an amazing treat that is to balance out strong cheeses.
