The Journey Begins
We nurture the nature you love, to craft exceptional wines from extraordinary soils.
Introducing our Pacific Northwest Wines
At Tinhorn Creek Vineyards, our roots run deep in the South Okanagan, where our connection to the land has shaped our winemaking from the very beginning. More than 30 years since our first vintage, our vision remains unchanged: to craft exceptional wines through sustainable viticulture and hands-on winemaking, staying true to the heart and soul of our estate. However, the extreme cold of early 2024 brought unprecedented challenges, significantly reducing our harvest. To ensure we could continue producing the wines our community has come to know and love, we turned to trusted growers in Washington and Oregon—regions with growing environments that complement our own. This strategic decision reflects an industry-wide effort, as BC wineries adapt to the realities of recent vintages while maintaining a steadfast commitment to quality.

Working Together to Create Wines Crafted in BC
Our winemaker, Leandro Nosal, has been instrumental throughout this process, personally travelling to these regions to oversee both vineyard selection and winemaking. From identifying ideal blocks to guiding every step of cellar operations, Leandro’s hands-on involvement ensures our 2024 vintage reflects the heart and precision of Tinhorn Creek. This venture reinforces our dedication to producing outstanding wines while safeguarding the long-term resilience of the BC wine industry. By working with like-minded growers and focusing on craftsmanship, and working with our industry partners here in BC, we are also preserving the artistry and expertise of our local winemaking team.
The Region
Eastern Washington
The wine regions of Eastern Washington, located near 46 degrees latitude north, benefit from approximately 17 hours of sunshine each summer day under clear, cloudless skies. This climate is strikingly like that of the Okanagan Valley, positioned closer to 50 degrees latitude north, which experiences about 16.5 hours of summer sunlight. Washington’s wine country is also recognized for its extreme daily temperature swings, among the highest globally, a feature it shares with the Okanagan Valley. The warm days encourage ripe, concentrated fruit flavors, while the pronounced temperature drops at night and during harvest help retain natural acidity, creating a fruit profile that is remarkably comparable to that of the Okanagan Valley.
Varietals Sourced from this region: Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc
Willamette Valley, Oregon
The Willamette Valley, located near 45 degrees latitude north, experiences long summer days with about 15.5 hours of sunlight, fostering a cool yet steady growing season. Its climate shares similarities with the northern regions of the Okanagan Valley, where moderate summer warmth and extended daylight hours create ideal conditions for balanced grape ripening. The Willamette Valley is also known for its significant diurnal temperature shifts, though typically less extreme than those of Eastern Washington or the Okanagan. These shifts help preserve the vibrant acidity and nuanced aromatics that define the region’s Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, producing wines with a distinct freshness and elegance, much like the cooler sites of the Okanagan Valley.

Thoughtful Labelling
Our philosophy is simple: be authentic, be transparent. Collaborating closely with industry partners in BC and across the border, we’ve developed labels that not only meet regulatory standards but also set a benchmark for clarity and consistency across our portfolio. Our labels proudly showcase the origins of our grapes — whether sourced from Oregon, Washington, or right here at home — ensuring every bottle reflects the craftsmanship, care, and integrity that define us. Each label is a true expression of our BC-based roots and our unwavering commitment to excellence in every glass.
Our Commitment to Return to BC Fruit
Across the Okanagan Valley, our vineyards are evolving to meet the challenges posed by climate change and increasingly severe cold weather events. Recent extremes have caused notable vine damage, driving a major initiative to replant and revitalize impacted areas. We are responding by introducing more resilient grape varieties and implementing advanced agricultural techniques to protect the future of our vineyards.
Our work goes beyond simply replacing vines — it involves adopting modern farming practices, upgrading equipment, and investing in sophisticated technology to monitor weather patterns, track sun exposure, and map vineyard temperatures in real time. Every step we take reflects our deep pride in the Okanagan’s winegrowing heritage — a legacy built together with our neighbours — and our determination to ensure it continues to flourish for generations ahead even in the face of a shifting climate.
