Kerner Icewine 2009

We were given the heads up by Andrew Moon, our viticulturist & vineyard manager, on Friday that there was a good chance we would be picking the Kerner Icewine grapes on Monday morning. Sure enough he called Monday morning at 6:30 to tell us that picking would start at 7:30am.

Everyone showed up wearing toques, gloves, boots, and several layers of clothing ready to pick. The temperature was around -10C and the sky was a brillant blue. The harvest went quickly this year as there were lots of staff out to help. By 8:30 we were back in the winery warming up with coffee, tea, & hot chocolate. We even had some homemade soup and buns waiting for us.
