The 2011 Harvest is official over! We picked 3.6 tonnes of Kerner for our Icewine this morning. It was a chilly -10C when we started picking just before 7am this morning. It's an all staff effort - tasting room, marketing, hospitality, admin, cellar, and vineyard. It took only 1.5 hours to pick and then we all headed to the tasting room to warm up with coffee, hot chocolate, and other tasty treats.
The first press is completed and intial tests show the juice at 44 brix. Once we are done pressing the Kerner juice will ferment for about 3 months in a small tank before bottling. The 2011 Oldfield Series Kerner Icewine will be released on July 1, 2012.
